Another great feature of this data form is that there is grid sections where data collection on drill based activities can easily be kept. These features allow you to make sure you are staying on task with the child. For instance, there is a lot of space included to list all of the objectives you are focusing on for the child, as well as the activities you are using to accomplish them. This data form has a lot of great qualities that would make it perfect to use with preschoolers. They feel it is especially valuable to keep good data, so that information can then be collected about best outcome measures that would inform the practices of speech language pathology in the school. The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association understands the importance of data collection but also how it can be especially complex in the school setting, stating that “the number, variations, and combinations of modes of delivering services are greater in the school setting than in other settings” ( Gallagher, Swigert, & Baum, 1998 ). Data collection is important even more so in the schools today, as documenting the progress of the child is important for Medicaid purposes and making sure IEP goals are met.
